
Ron Grender

BC, CANADARon Grender is a Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM), an experienced educational leader and a teacher with a current focus on international teacher training. Drawing on more than thirty five years of experience as a teacher and principal in British Columbia, Ron's presentations and training modules will inform and inspire change, and will foster best practise. Most of Ron's work has been with teachers in China and from China. Since 2004, more than 350 teachers from Yanqing, Nanning, Fangshan, Qingdao, Dalian, Hexi, Tianjin, Changping, and Fuyang have all benefitted from teacher training and english language development. In addition Professors from Woosuk University, Korea, have enjoyed language and presentation skill development workshops. Ron works in association with the Coquitlam, and Surrey, British Columbia School Districts, Canada International College, and as Program Manager for Canada Phoenix Education Group.
As a Toastmaster Ron has provided leadership at the local club and area level as well as for District 21 -British Columbia. A winner of humorous speech contests at the club, area and division levels, Ron's use of humor and storytelling in presentations is well known. For the past three years he has been the Master of Ceremonies for the Wow: Toastmasters Extravaganza, and in 2007 for the District 21 Fall Conference at Harrison Hot Springs. Currently, Ron is a member of the District 21 Marketing team and is also a mentor for new or potential toastmasters clubs.
Crossroads Hospice were the beneficiaries of several pro bono workshops to help develop a local speakers bureau, helping members of the Hospice Society to comfortably present to community groups.
Although "retired" for a few years now, Ron maintains a close liaison with Coquitlam School District. supporting the District by moderating public meetings on the topic of school closure; assisting Centennial High School to begin a Gavel Club (junior toastmasters), accompanying Pinetree Secondary School students on volunteer travel projects in Guatemala and Cuba, and judging public speaking contests at local elementary schools.
Retirement from a full time career as a school principal has provided Ron with more opportunity to teach, to travel and to speak. He is interested in and willing to consider any proposals that include any or all such opportunities. Training Programs can be one day introductions to eight or more weeks depending on your interests and your location.
