Stories help you get at the core of a company or a person. I can take you to that core -- and leave you with a memorable story that will attract others to you and your business.

Ben Merens teaches you what he knows -- How To Tell A Great Story!

Stories are what people remember about you and your company. More importantly, stories are what validate you and/or your business.

I have been a professional storyteller (and story gatherer) for more than 30 years.

I have told stories to promote complex science research; conflict managment technique strategies; and to rise to the top of the ratings at Wisconsin Public Radio during a 21-year talk show career.

Whether you need simple or complex stories told to enhance your business, organization or educational instiution -- I know how to get it done for you.

I've held the role of "Chief Storyteller" for BloodCenter of Wisconsin's Blood Research Institute. I've also taught graduate courses in Storytelling for Mount Mary University in Milwaukee.

My storytelling skills came into existence as a talk show host on the statewide airwaves of Wisconsin Public Radio during a 21-year run as a general news and business news talk show host.

Today, I work as a Communications Consultant, Public Speaker and Leadership Trainer. I specialize in Corporate Storytelling (with internal or external stakeholders) and speak or coach directly to this topic.

I'm the author of "People Are Dying To Be Heard: A guide to listening for a lifetime of communication." I also have created two audio books: "People Are Dying To Be Heard" and Uni-Tasking: 25 Tips For Better LIstening." My public speaking presentations to businesses, civic organizations, and educational groups focus on the information in these books.

All three topics--Corporate Storytelling, Listening and Focus-tasking--build on each other to aid in productive communications for healthcare, education, sales and management professionals, as well as civic groups, non-profit organizations, and general audiences.

I have taught communications at Mount Mary University; Marquette University; Hofstra University (NY); Columbia College (Chicago); Concordia University (Mequon, WI); and have guest-lectured at many colleges and universities as well.

My hobbies include improvisational singing/songwriting, swimming, and meditation.

People Are Dying To Be Heard

You can have a major impact on the lives of others on a daily basis by simply listening to them. There is a process to learn about "in the moment" listening that Ben Merens shares in order to give you to the tools for being present on a regular basis. Ben covers the three levels of listening and guides his audiences to a more focused and rewarding life.

The Four Faces of Empathic Listening

The Four Faces is a human relations theory that teaches people how to see four sides of other people to allow for interpersonal connections to be made between even the seemingly most different of people. This theory, developed through the 30-year practice of radio, television and print journalism, shows people the way towards similarity. This opens the doors of communication to everyone and can change a person's life for the better forever.
