Jorge Sa is an American-educated international speaker and author, and a senior research fellow at ISG Business School.

His research in the three years of 2024 to 2026, since retirement from three universities in Lisbon/Europe, led to the publication of five empirical books written for large audiences (none self-published) and based on fifteen academic articles Scopus/blind refereed and published in the same period.

His latest two books were published by Business Expert Press, New York in May 2025 and January 2026: “Creating Unicorns With Simple Innovations: the PISA Method” and “The Four Competitive Business Drivers: theory of business, business model, strategy and tactics”. The former was so far the winner of the competition “International Impact Book Awards” and finalist of the “Goody Business Book Awards”.

He is an expert on Peter Drucker and Philip Kotler, founders of modern management and modern marketing, respectively, with whom he studied and who offered letters of recommendation for his books and endorsements for his work. He has also worked on applied economics, namely the importance of freedom (economic and political) and ethics (professional and personal) for economic development.

He has a doctorate (PhD) from Columbia University where he graduated with honors (always Dean’s list, Beta Gamma Sigma), an MBA from Drucker University and was awarded the Jean Monnet Chair by the Jean Monnet Foundation in Brussels.

Besides over fifty academic blind refereed/Scopus articles, his books have been translated into twelve languages and has worked as private consultant, non-executive director or taught in the executive programs of multinational companies, such as: Coca-Cola, IBM, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, BP, Henkel, McDonald’s, UnitedHealth group, Merck, Volkswagen Group, Microsoft, etc.

His hobbies are soccer (professional degree as coach), and travel (speaking fluently by alphabetical order English, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish).

The Four Competitive Business Drivers: 1) theory of business, 2) business model, 3) strategy and 4) tactics (based on the latest book published in January 2026 by Business Expert Press, New York)

Organizational competitiveness requires excellence in four drivers:

  • The theory of business: why, the organization makes sense; the reality assumptions it is grounded upon;
  • The business model: the what, the basic cornerstones of its functioning: how it transforms clients satisfaction into profits;
  • Strategy: the where it operates in terms of geographical areas plus...

The glamour of technical sophistication has overshadowed a present second major source of high value innovations: simplicity.

Nothing changes: Drucker’s questions to create competitive organizations are eternal

An extension of the TED talk (link: https://youtu.be/SOkjPVi1Fts): in a constantly changing world great questions remain as actual as ever: who is the client, where is the client, what is value (and equally important, non-value) for the client, what are the client’s unsatisfied needs, if we were to decide today would I enter the same businesses I am in, and if not what am I...

Peter Drucker on Effective Leadership: What Really Matters

Leadership is as popular as a placid subject. However the examples of Katharine Graham (a housewife heir to the Washington Post), or of Darwin Smith (a discreet lawyer who as CEO transformed Kimberly-Clark into one of the most admired companies in the world), demonstrate that what truly matters for effective leadership is frequently plainly missed.

Only two behavioural traits (not personality types...

Peter Drucker on Staffing: putting the right person in the right place and building great teams

Staffing: how to build great teams by:

  • Forgetting weaknesses and focusing on strengths;
  • Ignoring human relations/teambuilding and concentrating on the key factors of the jobs to be done; and
  • Rather than knowledge focusing on the required temperament: most business functions accept a second rate intellect but require a first rate temperament (P. Drucker)

J.A., Chief Economist, Timbro

Professor Sá presentation was much appreciated by the audience and I have received many positive comments. Indeed, he offers both a vivid and in-depth description of Europe’s poor growth and new insights for both experts and the general public. As a result the lecture provides both a sense of urgency and ideas about how to improve Europe’s performance. (Jesper Ahlgren, Chief Economist at Timbro, Stockholm)

European Chemical Industry Council

M.H., Manager, European Chemical Industry Council

Dear Professor Sá, many thanks for your outstanding presentation. It was well structured, very clear, simple and pleasant. You are a very natural speaker. Great work. I must say that a lot of economists (from Academia) are still not able to communicate deeply and properly to the general public. That is a pitty. It was a pleasure and an honour to see your “one man show”. A lot of humility and outstanding communicator. (Dr. Moncef Hadhri, European Chemical Industry Council, Brussels)

Professor Sá was the highest rated presentation of the meeting, which also included two other professional inspirational speakers. He was extremely energized and a very dramatic and provocative speaker. Several of the executives attending the meeting have since purchased the Professor’s books on various subjects. ASPI would strongly recommend Professor Sá as an inspirational speaker to a body of senior managers. He has a passion for thinking and organizational and product line transformation. He is very engaging and an extremely interesting person. (Eric Fletty, Executive Director of ASPI)
