After 20 years of policing, including many years as a hostage negotiator and a detective in an elite child abuse division, Heather launched her own company in 2000. She was the first female Hostage/Crisis Negotiator (SWAT team). Heather trained at the Canadian Police College in Ottawa as well as with the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation, USA) and LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department).
