
Iris Ann Cooper
Iris Ann Cooper hails from Evansville, Indiana. She has worked in the financial service arena for over twenty-five years. She has provided financing programs for new and rehabilitated housing, commercial real estate and small business. She has developed an expertise in the management of a variety of projects for both non-profit and for profit businesses. She is currently the Director of the newly appointed Division of Entrepreneurship and Small Business which provides supportive programs for Ohio entrepreneurs.
Known for her commitment to the Columbus community, Iris has dedicated her spare time to worthwhile causes. For several years, she served as President of Community Capital Development Corporation (CCDC) and Strategies Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE). She is a past President of the Child Development Council of Franklin County (CDC Headstart). Iris was a founding trustee for the Columbus/Franklin County Port Financing Authority in 2006, and is a past board member of Columbus Area Community Mental Health. She was also honored in 2006 as a YWCA Woman of Achievement and a 2008 Woman of Economic and Leadership Development. Annually recognized in Who’s Who in Black Columbus, she is an advocate for children and the disenfranchised, and has mentored countless women and minority entrepreneurs over the years. Known as “Ms. Small Biz”, Iris is currently featured in the October 2008 issue of Entrepreneur Magazine for her long history of community service.
Iris has received numerous awards for economic development projects. She consults with not-for-profits on funding, financing, real estate and event planning under another enterprise, Pyramid Development Solutions LLC. She is also one of the founders and owners of Glory Foods, Inc. a national minority-owned food marketing company. Her “Just Ask Iris” column on business issues was featured in the Columbus Post newspaper for several years and was recently heard each weekly on radio station WVKO. Iris is a featured event speaker under her business, Pyramid Marketing Communications, with a certification as a seminar speaker from Les Brown Enterprises and as a mediator from Capital University School of Law. Her latest venture “Kiss for Entrepreneurs” is a training C.D. to help people start businesses the right way. Iris holds a BA degree in Journalism and an MBA in Marketing from Indiana University. She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and a steward of St. Paul A.M.E. Church.
