Dave Armstrong
Dave has been broadcasting college basketball in the Midwest to a generation of fans. He has been with the Big 12 Conference since it started, calling the action each week on ESPN’s Plus Network. Dave also announced basketball for the old Big 8 Conference starting in 1988. He has been “center-court” for literally hundreds of games for more that twenty years. His trademark “Wow!” is heard on each and every broadcast.
Dave is also familiar to baseball fans as he had the honor of broadcasting Major League Baseball for almost a decade. He was the Television voice of both the Kansas City Royals and the Colorado Rockies. He also broadcast for The Baseball Network, and Baseball Saturday Night on FX.
Dave started his broadcasting career back in the mid seventies at KGGF radio in Coffeyville, Kansas. He covered the Sunflower State during the formative years of his career. Working at KKOY radio in Chanute, KAYS television in Hays and then for six years as Sports Director at KSNW television in Wichita.
His work has been recognized with numerous awards, including a National Award for excellence in broadcasting by United Press International.
Dave has broadcast games in the National Football League as the play-by-play voice with the Seattle Seahawks.
In addition to his current work in college basketball, Dave is the play-by-play announcer for ESPNU’s College Football Primetime. He has had the opportunity to call games in the Big 12, the Big East, the Big 10, and the Atlantic Coast Conference. Dave was behind the microphone for the infamous “Fifth Down” game at Missouri.
Dave has just written his first book, “Driving From Here to WOW!”
It is an often times hilarious ride with Dave on his journeys around the sports world. He also offers insights on how to live a life while looking through the windshield, and not the rear-view mirror. The book has inspired and entertained many readers.
Dave makes his home in the Kansas City suburb of Overland Park, Kansas with his wife Karen and their two children, Tiffany and Troy.
