He achieved 20% increased productivity at Georgia-Pacific's Ontario, Canada Phosphate Mine operation; 13% & 16% operating cost reduction at two Phillips Petroleum refineries, and 18% lost time reduction at a General Electric plant in Juarez, Mexico. Smith spent 6 years in Africa working under the Late Reverend, Dr. Leon H Sullivan, former General Motors Board Member and author of "The Sullivan Principles", providing advice and assistance to emerging nations in Technical Skills and Economic Development.
