As anchor of BET Nightly News , Reid brings a wealth of experience and talent along with a stylish, contemporary presence to our country's only major African American, nationwide newscast on a daily basis.
Reid plays an active role in deciding what stories will be covered and how they should be presented. When the camera comes on, Reid goes to work delivering the news and interviewing the newsmakers of the day with a professional, approachable style and delivery that sets her apart from her peers.
Before joining BET, Reid anchored the morning news at CNN Headline News Network. Reid joined Headline News from KPRC-TV, an NBC affiliate in Houston , where she served as an anchor and reporter. Prior to this position, she was an anchor and reporter for the CBS affiliate WKYT-TV in Lexington , KY and a reporter for WBSG-TV in Brunswick , GA.
Reid has also been a fill-in anchor and featured correspondent on CBS' The Early Show several times providing reports on the Michael Jackson controversy, R-Kelly, and the BET awards show.
In addition to news events, Reid has also provided special coverage for the 2002 and 2003 BET Award Shows , hosting a one-hour interview special that included one-on-one's with the founding members of Earth, Wind and Fire, Earvin "Magic" Johnson and James Brown. Reid also anchors the special live broadcast outside of L.A. 's Kodak Theater following the awards show.
Reid earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in print journalism from Clark Atlanta University , a Masters of Broadcast Journalism from Northwestern University , and is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
