Rachel Morgan-Trimmer
You'll go away with a new understanding of mental diversity - the concept that there is no normal brain. The audience you've been performing for doesn't exist, and realising this will inspire you to pull your authenticity out of your pocket and start enjoying it.
"If she can do it, I can too."
Rachel founded the concept of "mental diversity" so her talks are the only place where you can get a true understanding of neurodiversity, mental health and what's missing for the majority. Using neurodiversity as the foundation, Rachel has developed a concept that suits everyone: neurodivergent and neurotypical, mentally ill and mentally well, the woke and the people who are secretly a bit fed up of it all.
Despite looking and sounding like a normal person, Rachel harbours an array of exciting neurodivergent and co-existing conditions, which she talks about openly, honestly and with no small amount of humour. She uses her own experiences of childhood adversity and adult rejection to show you that even when it feels like you have nothing, you can still do everything.
As a late-diagnosed ADHD autistic woman, Rachel knows first-hand the experience of not fitting in. Once she learned that she wasn't broken, just different, she became an advocate for other people like her, helping them understand themselves and work to their strengths. As a corporate trainer, she began to build a world where neurodivergent people weren't sidelined but respected, included and valued for the extraordinary talents that so many of us possess. And in doing so, she found that the world we live in is not really suitable for anyone. So she expanded into the concept of mental diversity where there is no normal and where everyone can enjoy their own authenticity.
At Rachel's agency Firebird, they do something very unusual. All the talks and training are inclusive by default, meaning that participants who are ADHD, autistic, dyslexic, dyspraxic or dyscalculic need not "contact us with your access needs" but can be assured that they will be able to access the sessions just like everyone else. The training is also accessible for those with sensory impairments and physical disabilities - Rachel even learnt BSL so she could communicate more effectively. It means that the sessions are not only inclusive for marginalised groups, but they're more engaging and enjoyable for everyone.
Rachel understands the world of work inside and out, having run workplace agencies for over 20 years. She is a TEDx speaker, published author, multi-award-winner and documentary maker. Featured in hundreds of publications, podcasts and film worldwide, Rachel is passionate about sharing her message that there's nothing wrong with people, we're just trying to fit into a world that wasn't built for any of us.
Her clients include the BBC, NHS, JP Morgan Chase, Hewlett Packard and Manchester City Football Club.
Her press includes Huffpost, the Daily Mail, Psychologies, HR Magazine and Stylist.
Her testimonials include things like "Your talk changed my life" and "I'm going to do things differently now." The agency's analysis shows real behaviour change after Rachel's talks, not just the day after but months, even years after she's spoken. We deliver real, impactful and sustainable change.
Rachel is also a parent, cat-owner, wife, gym-goer, the owner of a micro-farm and keen cook. She continues to learn everything she can about neurodiversity, neuroscience and the world of work and continues to train in effective communication. She spent years living a life with labels that were wrong, and is now making up for lost time. She wants to show you how to do that too.
