Dr. Bethany Mills

Psy.D., HSPP

KY, US

As a recovering perfectionist & people-pleaser, Bethany uses humor & vulnerability to engage audiences in insightful exploration of their own patterns & approaches to relationships & life. People walk away realizing they are not alone & with action steps to bring about change for healthier living.

As a licensed clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience working in high-impact environments--inpatient and outpatient treatment programs, private practice, community mental health centers, a university counseling center, and a high-security federal penitentiary--Dr. Mills combines deep insight into human behavior with engaging, relatable delivery. She strives to equip audiences with tools that create real, lasting change. She works to help individuals and organizations break through what is holding them back and step into healthier, more empowered ways of living and leading. She uses authenticity, vulnerability, and humor to develop a sense of connection with clients and audiences from as small as five to as large as 10,000+. She customizes every experience to meet the audience's identified needs.

As a John Maxwell Leadership Coach, Teacher and Speaker, Dr. Mills can offer you workshops, seminars, keynote speaking, and coaching, aiding your personal and professional growth through study and practical application of John’s proven leadership methods. Working together, she will move you and/or your team or organization in the desired direction to reach your goals.

Dr. Mills earned her Bachelor's of Arts degree in Psychology from Mount Vernon Nazarene College, her Master of Science in Counseling/Counselor Education from Indiana University, and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Spalding University. Her dissertation research focused on the importance of fathers and faith in the lives of children and resulted in a faith-based fatherhood program. Her pre-doctoral internship focused on children and families and dealt with psychological testing, substance abuse treatment for adolescents, outpatient therapy for children and their families, and inpatient treatment for child/adolescents dealing with depression, anxiety, behavioral disorders, and personality disorders.

Dr. Mills is a wife of over 30 years and a mom of four amazing and beautiful children. She enjoys any activity involving water. Give her an ocean, lake, or pool and 80 degree weather and she is a happy girl. Since much of her professional work does not allow her to see her finished products, her hobbies of baking, furniture refinishing, and home improvement projects fill her bucket. She doesn't claim to have it all figured out, but she invites audiences along with her as she opens up about her struggles and encourages others to do the same.

Audience member quotes:

"She was made for this! She was funny and real and down to earth. Helped me realize I wasn't alone."
