Practical training shows up in better conversations, better decisions, and better results.
When leadership is working, you can feel it: conversations get focused, meetings get shorter, and teams get energized. You’ll get simple tools and frameworks that create momentum without adding more noise.
Audiences don’t need another pep talk; they need language they can use, a plan they can execute, and a few repeatable habits that make work (and life) lighter. My sessions are designed so people walk out with immediate next steps—better questions to ask, cleaner decision points, and a realistic way to turn priorities into follow-through.
After a decade as Mayor of a community in Kentucky where we led one of the best comeback stories during a difficult period and more than twenty years in small business, I’ve seen how quickly good intentions can get buried under busy calendars. Add fifteen years in ministry and you learn quickly that leadership is always personal—because people are. Today, I serve as the Executive Director of the Cynthiana–Harrison County Chamber of Commerce in Kentucky, where my work sits at the crossroads of community, business, and leadership development.
What I bring to the room is a grounded mix of real-world leadership experience, a teacher’s mindset, and an encouragement-forward style shaped by the Maxwell Leadership framework. I’m also the author of The Servant Leader’s Playbook, a practical field guide built around everyday leadership realities.
Most requested topics and programs include:
- Leadership that Works on Monday Morning (clarity, communication, accountability)
- Team Building and Trust (alignment, collaboration, conflict navigation)
- Time Management for Real Life (priorities, energy, focus, execution)
- Strategic Planning Made Practical (from vision to action to ownership)
- Running Effective Meetings (decisions, roles, agendas, follow-up)
A personal note: my wife Paula and I are co-owners of the historic Rohs Opera House, where restoring a once-dilapidated theater taught me a lot about perseverance, community partnerships, and creative problem-solving. I’ve also had the joy of writing and directing plays, and I host a morning talk radio show on WCYN—both of which keep me practicing the art of connecting with people. We have three children and ten grandchildren, which is a daily reminder that growth is a lifelong assignment.
If you’re looking for a speaker who keeps things practical, human, and usable—this is the work I love to do.
