Lisa Petit, M.D., FAAP is a highly respected Board-Certified Pediatrician, experienced Parent Educator, and a dedicated mom of 3. Leveraging over 15 years of clinical practice, Dr. Petit is a passionate advocate for empowering parents with practical, evidence-based, and no-judgment tools for raising confident, resilient children. Frustrated by the overwhelming and often unrealistic advice inundating today's families, Dr. Petit founded The Parenting Playbook.

Professional Experience & Medical Practice:

Dr. Petit is Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and holds a State License through the MD State Board of Physicians. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and currently practices pediatrics in Catonsville, MD. Her practice, Williams & Petit Pediatrics, is a family business and was recognized in the November 2010 Issue of Baltimore’s Top Doctors in Baltimore Magazine. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Petit is a certified "1-2-3 Magic" instructor and has taught several popular classes on practical topics, including Screen Time, Picky Eating, Sleep, and Discipline.

Education & Expertise Foundations:

Dr. Petit's unique approach to pediatric care and parent education is built on a strong academic foundation in both medicine and psychology. She earned her Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from Howard University College of Medicine and completed her Pediatric Residency at The Herman and Walter Samuelson Children’s Hospital at Sinai in Baltimore, MD. Prior to medical school, she earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park (honors program), where she completed extensive coursework in Social Psychology, Child Psychology, Adult Psychopathology, and Counseling Psychology.

This blend of medical and psychological expertise informs her compassionate and effective approach to pediatrics, parental coaching, and family challenges. During her studies, she also participated in the Minority Research Program focusing on "Sleep Paralysis and Mental Health," leading to a publication in Sleep 28 on Sleep Paralysis, Psychiatric Symptoms and Disorders in an Adult African American Population attending a Primary Care Clinic. Dr. Petit’s early research also included academic papers on "The Role of Music Therapy in Medical Care" and "The Need for Counseling in Primary Care," demonstrating her long-standing commitment to the holistic well-being of her patients.

Community Leadership & Affiliations:

Dr. Petit's commitment to the field of medicine also extends to the community. In 2025, she was recognized in the October Entrepreneur Spotlight by the Minority Christian Women Entrepreneurs Network. She also served on the Board of Trustees and the STRIVE anti-racism task force for Notre Dame Preparatory School in Baltimore, MD. Of note, Dr. Petit provided crucial guidance as a member of the school’s Health Advisory Committee during the COVID pandemic.
