Audience members will learn strategies to improve their well-being and happiness, based on the neuroscience and science of thriving.
Dr. Suzie White is an expert in the science and neuroscience of well-being. As an Assistant Professor at the University of Cincinnati, she teaches master’s, Ed.D., and Ph.D. courses, including Happiness in Action, Leadership for Social Justice, and Leading Educational Organizations Through Change. Suzie’s research focuses on human connection, social equity, and the role of education in fostering mental health and wellness.
Suzie earned her Ph.D. in Higher Education from New York University and a master’s in Education Policy and Management from Harvard. Her background includes extensive experience in urban education, college access for low-income students, and community partnerships. She has been a college counselor at a Cristo Rey high school, an AmeriCorps volunteer, and a Senior Program Development Associate at College Summit, helping students pursue higher education. Suzie also integrates mindfulness and stress reduction into her work, having trained with Jon Kabat-Zinn and completed yoga teacher certification.
With a passion for creating impactful, evidence-based talks, Suzie inspires audiences to enhance their well-being through evidence-based strategies, rooted in neuroscience. She examines the science (neuroscience, behavioral science, social psychology, primatology, genetics, etc.) to learn what it can tell us about fostering well-being, resiliency, and thriving. She then explores evidence-based approaches to strengthen the key components of well-being — such as social connection, kindness, gratitude, joy, meaning/purpose/strengths, neuroplasticity/growth mindset, and stress management/mindfulness.
