
Liz Ghandakly
MD, JD
OH, USDr. Ghandakly is an attorney-turned-physician and bioethics podcast co-host who speaks on issues ranging from healthcare, advocacy, bioethics, effective communication, and team-based problem solving.
Dr. Ghandakly is an attorney-turned-physician currently completing residency at Cleveland Clinic. She is an MD graduate from the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and attained her Masters in Bioethics at Johns Hopkins University while in medical school. Prior to medical school, she practiced corporate law for a number of years, doing contract negotiation for large IT corporations including IBM and Oracle. With a deep interest in health policy, she served an appointment to the City of Alexandria Public Health Advisory Commission from 2016-2018, worked as a Health Policy Advisor to a Virginia State Delegate, and has joined numerous healthcare associations in Advocacy Days on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. Liz graduated from The Ohio State University with a dual degree in Economics and Political Science and an Arabic minor and received her law degree from The Ohio State University. As part of her Arabic minor, she spent a semester studying at The University of Damascus in Damascus, Syria. She also recently joined a medical mission aimed at transfer of knowledge on interventional cardiology procedures to the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute in Tanzania, which further sparked a passion for international health. She has also worked as a Medical News Contributor for ABC News in their Medical News Unit, reviewing medical news stories and writing scripts and pieces. In her spare time, Liz enjoys running, camping, making her dogs go for hikes, writing Op Eds, and trying to be an amateur triathlete (most recently completing the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon in San Francisco!). With a passion for medical education, she is part of the Clinical Educator Track in her current program and she is also co-host of a podcast, The BrainStorm Podcast, exploring clinical Bioethics with expert guests. When not in a hospital call room, she is always up for a lively debate, board game, or triple espresso.
