Author/keynote speaker with over two decades of experience in the field of education who specializes in igniting passion/purpose in personal/professional lives.

I would say I was born with a fire within me but in truth, I believe every child is born with a fire. We all started with a light that wants to shine bright, an innocence that indulges in the pure happiness of this world, and a sense of self-acceptance that fuels our confidence. What makes us special is not the fact that we have this innate fire, but that each of our flames burns for a unique purpose. We all crave to follow a calling that is buried in our bones and pulses with our heartbeat.

I’ve had an extensive journey through the education system, pouring most of my life’s work into nourishing the children I am surrounded by and it has taught me a lot. The most important lesson has been the cruciality of nourishing every child’s fire. In fact, it is not only the children whose flames need to be seen, validated, and nurtured but especially the adults who have been through a lifetime of stifling their fire in the name of our status quo - leading to the prevalent health issues we face as a society today.

During my childhood, I endured countless scenarios that a young person should never have to go through including witnessing domestic violence, family members involved in drugs and violence. But somehow through all the pain, violence, and injustice, my virtues only strengthened and my spirit became unbreakable. I cultivated a sense of self-belief that led me to become the first black woman to hold the title of Ms. Austin USA in the 90s. This was the initial turning corner that introduced me to the power of public speaking and the fulfillment of allowing my words and experience to uplift the crowd in front of me. Little did I know, it was just the beginning of a lifelong mission using my voice to amplify the voices of others.

Over the years, I have had the honor of speaking at graduations, colleges, universities, parent meetings, professional development events, and conferences. My talks are not just speeches but heartfelt dialogues that challenge listeners to think critically and passionately about their lives and goals. I connect with every audience through my own personal stories because I find that people are highly inspired when they resonate on a human-to-human level. I have motivated diverse audiences and love to express a compelling narrative that leaves a lasting impact.

My message is simple… Maintain The Flame!  Every single one of us can leave a generational legacy if we tune into the truth that lives in our hearts.

I have navigated many challenging experiences throughout my life, I’m a first-generation college grad, recently lost both my parents within 10 months of each other, and after caring for them the last three years of their lives I was told that I had endometrial cancer.  But, I stand strong as an advocate for transforming your most grueling struggles into your most pivotal strengths. Pain has the power to shape a resilience that will change the trajectory of your future and I want to empower people to channel their heartache and hardship into a force for positive growth and triumph.

With over twenty-five years in education, I've had the pleasure of working in both collegiate and public-school sectors. My journey has been all about demonstrating exceptional leadership and being a fierce protagonist for students. I've implemented data information systems and crafted action plans that have significantly improved student outcomes and streamlined school operations. My initiatives have contributed to higher graduation rates and improved standardized test scores. Mentoring and partnering with parents, while also collaborating with central office and campus staff is where I shine, always aiming to hit those common goals through effective communication and relationship-building.

I have become renowned at every campus I’ve worked at to bring high-vibe positivity, warmth, and motivation while being a safe space that children and colleagues can turn to for support. I've helped launch impactful after-school programs, enhanced student engagement, and fostered a more inclusive educational environment because I understand that these are the keys to a holistic strategy for a school’s success. My focus on every person’s innate and unique gifts has been instrumental in achieving these outcomes, empowering both students and educators to thrive.

On a more personal note, I have three amazing children. My oldest is a passionate teacher, my son is balancing a master’s degree with his football career, and my youngest is thriving as a junior at the University of North Texas. My family’s journey, filled with love and perseverance, mirrors the values I bring into my professional life.

As I’m sure you can tell by now, my career is fueled by a deep-seated desire to transform lives, weaving together my personal experiences and professional expertise to inspire and uplift others. I've seen firsthand the power of dedication and strategic thinking in turning obstacles into pathways for growth and success. Guiding individuals to uncover their true potential and embrace authenticity isn't just what I do - it's my passion and purpose in this beautiful thing we call life!
