Martina Kelades

NS, CANADA

From vulnerability to victory, Martina creates safe spaces for courageous conversations, inspiring audiences to lean into discomfort and discover purpose in pain. "We all have a mental health story."

Martina Kelades is a professional storyteller and multi-passionate artist who brings a unique approach to her work. As a Canadian actor, mental health and wellness speaker, and podcast host, she is deeply committed to dismantling and changing the narrative around mental and emotional health stigma. Leveraging her acting background, Martina uses the power of storytelling to inspire others to live intentional and courageous lives. Her unique storytelling style, often incorporating personal anecdotes and experiences, has captivated audiences at various events and platforms.

Martina is not just a storyteller but a catalyst for change. She is the visionary behind Life Out Loud Mental Health Consulting & Creatives, a mental health promotion company and a platform that amplifies narratives around mental health and wellness. These narratives provide solace to those grappling with mental and emotional health challenges and inspire those who dare to live a life on purpose. Martina's unwavering belief in the power of vulnerability ignites courageous conversations and empowers individuals to transform challenges into sources of strength.

In 2018, Martina faced an unexpected reality and life change - the armour of perfection no longer protected her from hiding behind the trauma and pain she buried for many years. Having been put off work on medical leave related to burnout, she was later diagnosed with depression and general anxiety disorder. The career she planned to retire from as a Personal Development Counsellor and Facilitator ended, but she didn't realize at the time that this was the breakdown she needed to start the journey of her breakthrough.

Focusing on the 5 in 5 people who have mental health, Martina engages audiences in everyday, ordinary life experiences, encouraging her audience to find meaning and relevance within their own experiences. At the heart of Martina's brand is a profound human connection. Martina's compassionate voice serves as a guiding light for those seeking to transform pain into purpose. Her ability to inspire and support individuals from all walks of life through various platforms demonstrates the power of sharing one's story.

From her acting roles to her podcast and speaker presentations, she embodies authenticity and forges meaningful connections with people. Through her compelling narratives, Martina fuels a movement encouraging individuals to embrace their adversities, find strength in their vulnerabilities, and grow forward in life.

Martina's mental health and wellness journey is built on a solid foundation of education and life experiences. She studied psychology at Mount St. Vincent University and completed a Human Services diploma in addiction counselling through the Nova Scotia Community College. Martina is a trained Mental Health First Aid Canada Instructor, a national certification training through the Mental Health Commission of Canada.

As a captivating keynote speaker, Martina has graced speeches at conferences, corporate sessions, and community groups, serving as a keynote speaker, MC and panellist. She delves into topics related to burnout, personal development, and resilience. Her ability to foster a safe space for courageous conversations is a testament to her sensitivity, empathy and sense of humour, enabling her to connect with audiences from all walks of life.
