Tom Cobin is dedicated to elevating others, by sharing what he has learned over the course of a lifetime of stellar accomplishments. His award-winning achievements span four decades, across successful careers in two challenging fields: TV News and Pharmaceutical Sales.

Tom has been speaking to audiences for more than half a century -- since winning speech contests all over the NYC Metropolitan Area in 7th grade. The following year, he was the top student and Valedictorian of his elementary school graduating class, giving that year's Commencement Address.

In high school, Tom's powers of persuasion took him all the way to State Finals. He graduated high school early with honors in just three years, and began pursuing a career in medicine, enrolling in the pre-med curriculum at Cornell University.

But Tom's path to eventual success was interrupted when, for financial reasons, he was forced to drop out of Cornell, move to New York City, and support himself for two years.

He tells audiences the emotional story of the moment he "hit bottom" -- hungry, penniless, and pandhandling on the streets of Manhattan. His struggle was a stark contrast to the air of luxury where he was standing: the plaza at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts -- where well-heeled New Yorkers were exiting limousines and taxes, to see the Metropolitan Opera, City Ballet, and New York Philharmonic.

Undaunted by adversity, Tom got back to school and put himself through college. He studied Broadcast Journalism at New York University, where he achieved the Dean's Academic Honor List. He became a reporter and photographer for the student newspaper. At the campus radio station, he was a DJ, news anchor, field reporter, and interview show host.

While still a college student, Tom began working as a paid on-air radio reporter at the largest country music station in the United States: WHN-1050 AM. This led to assignments for the Mutual Broadcasting Network -- including an appearance on the Larry King Show, live on-air from Times Square on New Year's Eve.

Tom completed his final degree coursework at night, while holding down a full-time administrative job at the flagship station of the CBS TV Network, WCBS-TV. He also hosted his own weekly interview and variety show on Manhattan Cable TV.

Once again in college, Tom rose to the top of his graduating class: designated the top student in Broadcast Journalism. He was inducted into the Kappa Tau Alpha Journalism Honor Society, and received an award from the Society of Professional Journalists -- at the same ceremony where Ted Koppel was recognized for Innovation in TV News for the first year of his groundbreaking show, "NightLine."

Tom then began working as a freelance writer and producer in local and network news, before being offered a full-time staff position at WCBS-TV.  In a remarkable case of prescience, Tom actually predicted the Black Monday Stock Market Collapse, at the end of business the previous Friday. His field assignments included on-site coverage of Hurricane Hugo in Charleston, SC, and a historic cross-cultural videotape exchange project between high school students in NYC and Moscow, shortly after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

During his 10 years behind-the-scenes in TV News, Tom won an Emmy Award and a Writers Guild Award nomination.

Tom ultimately was promoted to Weekend Producer at WCBS-TV, a position he held for three years. But he never abandoned the idea of pursuing an on-air career, which he had originally envisioned in college.

Tom left his position as Producer of the most-watched local TV newscast in the country (Sunday night CBS in NYC) to become a field reporter in a smaller TV market. He soon became the first -- and only -- person in the history of the Radio Television News Directors Association to win two Edward R. Murrow Awards in the same year, for in-depth Investigative News Series he researched, developed, shot, hosted, wrote, edited, and produced.

Over the next decade, in various markets, Tom held positions as Anchor, Weathercaster, and Investigative Reporter. He was named "Reporter of the Year" in Virginia -- one of three times he was awarded by the Associated Press. He also earned another Regional Award from RTNDA.

Tom's groundbreaking work was repeatedly featured on NBC affiliate stations all across the country. Montel Williams invited him on his show three times to highlight his work.

After his stellar 20-year career in journalism, Tom's interests returned to the field of health and science, when he became a pharmaceutical representative.

Tom achieved the highest sales performance awards at multiple pharmaceutical companies, and was promoted to National Sales Trainer with his last employer -- a Top 5 company in the industry, where presenting to groups of all sizes was a regular part of his responsibilities. When he left the position after three years, the Director of Training said Tom had "transformed the way this company does training."

Tom was credited with facilitating digital transformation; incorporating gamification; and instituting technological tools that were quickly adopted across all Divisions. After years of conceiving and developing a wide variety of training materials and activities on many subjects, Tom understands and appreciates what is important to corporations at all levels: from senior leadership to front-line, customer-facing employees.

Based on his recognized skill as a gifted communicator, Tom conducted in-person workshops for field sales representatives who had been designated as their respective District Sales Trainers. He even coached senior leadership in preparation for important presentations. For five years, he played a direct role in planning and executing National Sales Meetings. He also made critical contributions on a team that won a company award for its first-ever Virtual Sales Meeting -- years before anyone imagined it would become the norm in the COVID pandemic.

After relocating to south Florida for family reasons, Tom left the pharmaceutical industry and created DynamiCoach, pulling together the skills and experience in speaking and presentation that he has gained over the course of his life and career. His passion is providing others with the benefits of his expertise, to transform their ability to influence others, achieve their goals, and fulfill their purpose.
