Janice Person
The world has grown more polarized and controversial. Finding ways to reduce the polarization is critical for mos and effective communications play a key role. Janice Person lives that path.
Janice’s decades of experience working in publications, the agency world, a small global company, and a Fortune 500 company gave her more than a grounding in communications. This time has her grounded in the worlds of food and farming, grounded in a love of urban life, and a deep passion for small towns. Her unique skill? Finding ways to reduce the polarization that can come with differences whether those are personal, business, big or small.
Bringing all of those skills and passions together, she formed her own company and has been working with startups, non-profits and other organizations on communications and outreach while talking to audiences about some of the small steps that can help individuals, groups and industries accomplish their goals.
Speaking Approach
Janice uses vivid storytelling techniques to help groups discover a sense of wonder, embrace new ideas, conquer fear and more. Working with conference organizers, she pulls from a slate of stories to incorporate a range of examples and topics to meet the audience where they are and help them see things in new ways to achieve the specified goals of the hosting organization is a piece that truly delivers for clients.
Career
As we said above, Janice has had an amazing career in communications and public relations (details on positions & accomplishments are on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/janiceperson/). In June 2023, her impact on the agricultural industry was marked with her induction into the Agricultural Relations Hall of Fame. She can't help but point to her continued personal and professional development as a major piece of that accomplishment some of those milestones include:
- After years with a small global company of just 600 people, she joined a major global corporation via a merger. She went on to transform the way the company was perceived in key demographics. As the company underwent another merger, she determined the timing was right to become her own boss and has successfully run her own business for 5 years.
- Diving into digital communications when many peers were standing on the sidelines unsure what would happen in the online environment. Working for a major Fortune 500 company that had been the object of misinformation online, she found ways to build a supportive community and remain focus even though trolls tried to derail her. Her success in this lane earned her south after place on the stage at South by Southwest in Austin (SXSW) as well as early Twitter verification.
- Born and raised a Memphis girl, Janice has visited all 50 states and lived in half a dozen of them. She's also traveled extensively outside the US often working and visiting friends and colleagues.
