Darrin Schenck
Overcoming obstacles and facing adversity has been a way of life for me. I love to share my experiences for audiences large and small, shortening the learning curve of others. Relatable stories and actionable takeaways are my specialty.
Many of my talks focus on the lessons I have learned over the course of my own life. As a world class athlete, Head Coach and now in the business world, I have a knack for sharing what to do and what not to do, both of which I have learned directly. Some of the talks are very straight forward and practical, others are motivational and inspiring, pulling from my time on the court, as a coach on the sidelines, and as a business professional.
I am the survivor of a head on collision with a wrong way drunk driver, which ironically became the impetus for me to become a Professional Speaker. I started out by sharing this story at MADD events and eventually grew my opportunities to speak in the corporate world and at universities/colleges.
Prior to this, I got the chance to pursue the one thing I was sure about when I was a teenager, and that was to be a Professional Racquetball Player. I worked very hard, on a VERY limited budget, to get to the pro ranks at the age of 24. I spent three years in the top 20 in the world until I retired at age 30, completely burned out from the journey I had been on for the previous 15 years.
After some time away from the game, I returned to the sport I love as a volunteer coach. I spent 15 years as the Head Coach of the Arizona State University Racquetball Club, amassing the following:
--Women's National Championship
--Fifteen straight years of top ten finishes
--over three dozen Collegiate All Americans
--Two Time Collegiate Coach of the Year
Parallel to this endeavor, I started my sales career, with forays into Medical Sales, Commercial Interior Sales, and Corporate Relocation before settling into my current role as Vice President of Sales for TriageNow. In my twelve years with the company, I have grown the TriageNow to one of the top five service providers in the industry, securing client such as General Mills, Goodyear Tire, American Red Cross, and many more household names. I now also serve as an industry speaker and panel expert in the Work Comp space.

“I recently had the opportunity to watch Darrin do a talk with the Business Clubs of America here in Phoenix and was moved by his story. Darrin shared some personal experiences about his life, a potentially deadly car crash, and how this incident changed his perspective on life. He took us on a roller coaster ride of emotions at times and left us with some solid and actionable takeaways that it seems the group as a whole really benefitted from. I really appreciated the experiences and wisdom he shared with our group, in talking to the other members they felt the same way, the talk was empowering and I recommend him as a guest speaker or consultant to other companies as well.”

Ensuring that our students have the best education possible and to properly prepare them for their future careers requires that we here at W.P. Carey School of Business introduce them to real-world topics in real time. One way that we do so at the business school is by inviting knowledgeable guest speakers into our classes that can add to the educational experience and further help students prepare for the challenges of finding a job and creating a good career for themselves. Mr. Darrin Schenck is game changer in that respect and I would like to thank him for taking the time to meet with my undergraduate students and share his knowledge about job exploration and interviewing in a very timely, relevant, and direct way that will absolutely prove useful in their future careers. Please know that meeting with our students here at the W. P. Carey School really makes a difference, it makes business personal by building ties and reinforcing relationships with the business community that are so vital to the success of our school and students. Thank you again for getting involved and I look forward to continuing collaborating with you in the future.
