After over 3 decades making critical decisions, Marissa Johanson is no stranger to making decisions in all kinds of situations. She brings a 5 step method to learn and increase your team's skills in decision making. The lessons learned there translate well into any setting. Give your team her gift!.

How do you decide what to do for a patient who needs to moved from one hospital to another and is missing part of their skull or for someone with their chest open? Marissa Johanson, RN, CCRN, CEN, CFRN knows. She is a distinguished nursing professional based in McKinleyville, California, whose career to date spans over 30 years and is characterized by her unwavering commitment to transforming lives. With a wealth of experience as a Registered Nurse, certified in critical care, emergency and flight, Marissa stands out as a leader in the nursing field. In addition to her roles, she is also a best-selling author, accomplished speaker, and dedicated mentor, helping individuals and healthcare professionals navigate the complexities of decision-making in both personal and professional contexts.

Marissa began her journey in nursing after graduation in 1990. Her deep interest in critical care and emergency nursing prepared her well for entry into the flight medical world, and has driven her to achieve remarkable patient outcomes with the most challenging of patients throughout her career. Working first in airplanes doing strictly interfaculty transports, she eventually branched out into helicopters and has provided care in the 911 first responder role as well. Currently she is flying part time for REACH Air Medical in Northern California.

Drawing from all of healthcare—nurses, physicians, therapists, pharmacists, and beyond—Marissa has distilled those principles into a simple, practical method: DECIDE. As she moves into the latter phase of her career, she is committed to contributing in new ways, helping others navigate critical decisions with confidence.

Her DECIDE system offers a structured way to identify issues, plan meaningful action, reduce decision fatigue, and minimize wasted time, energy, and resources. Most importantly, it creates room for reflection, growth, and being fully human - even when decisions don't go as planned.

She is a current member of the Air & Surface Transport Nurses Association and stays current in the evolution of her field.

Beyond nursing, Marissa founded Wise Life Strategies, an initiative aimed at empowering individuals, and organizations both within and outside of healthcare to make informed, effective decisions. She assists individuals and organizations alike to find their specific purpose by becoming a licensed Purpose Factor Facilitator in December of 2024. She is keen to help others unlock their potential and achieve their personal and professional goals.

On a personal note, she loves her two dogs, and spends time with them and her husband in the mountains of Northern California. They enjoy time on the lake nearby and taking time out for an occasional hike when they can. She is mother to two adult children who are pursuing lives of service to others also.

She has spoken both virtually and in person in Europe, with multiple invitations to return. She is here to bring this needed skill to your team and looks forward to hearing from you! Book her today to inspire your team to greater excellence with decision making.
