I know and understand what it’s like to be overlooked, underrated, and underestimated. I know what it’s like to be a statistic and to be given up on and discarded. I understand the journey of deep emotional pain, disappointments and feeling like you’re alone and wanting to give up on yourself. I didn’t have a positive female role model growing up, which affected my decision making in my teens. I was emotionally broken and filled with anger. I know what it’s like to be homeless and having to start my life all over again. Throughout my life it has been my experiences that have taught me my lessons. Life was and still is my classroom.
I used to ask, “why did I go through the things that I did”? But I later realized that it was the hardships, the difficulties, the hurt, and pain that I drew my strength and self-empowerment from, and that nothing that I had gone through in my life was only for me.
The thing that has shown me struggles, Is the very thing that has empowered me. The thing that broke me, is the very thing that built me. The thing that tried to take my voice, is the very thing that gave me my voice. The thing that made me feel like I had no purpose, is the very thing that led me to this purpose. That thing is LIFE. Life has Empowered me, to Empower others.
