Mike Barnes
"Don't take it personally" with aging parents. "Try to win" in your life. And know that "He Has Plans".
Mike Barnes is a former award winning sportscaster who gets to the heart of the matter to motivate. Thirty years on television and a lifetime of experiences that will make you laugh, cry and help to reach your goals.
Mike has a wide variety of messages he share. He has a secular message, "Try to Win". A three step process that can be used to be your best. His non-secular message deals with problems and how you can overcome them, being at peace with what God puts in front of you and not falling into bad habits because of the understanding that He has plans for you. And his newest is about dealing with aging parents. "Don't take it personally!" focuses on the challenges he's faced because his Mom has Alzheimer's and what you can do to be ready for the challenges of having aging parents.
Mike was a sportscaster for 30 years, spending most of his time at the ABC affiliate in Austin, Texas, where he was named Best Sportscaster in Austin 17 times and Best in Texas by the Associated Press four times.
He and his wife, Kim, started a Facebook Group in 2021 called "Parenting Aging Parents". As its popularity soared with people in need of support, Mike and Kim have spoken to dozens of groups about how to deal with those trying times and how to prepare for them.
