Jasiah Scott
I am 24 years old from Prince Georges County, Maryland. Where I come from we eat, breathe and sleep sports 24/7. Just like most athletes I grew up not thinking about life outside of or after sports. I played basketball all the way until the middle of senior season in high school. I felt as though my coach didn't bleieve in me and this was the first time in my life I had to stand up for myself and went to his office and told him "Coach since you don't believe in me I cannot play for you anymore." This was the hardest decision of my life because I had no clue what I wanted to do with life outside of basketball.
I graudated from Virginia State University which is an Historically Black College (HBCU). While attending VSU I interned for the NFL Player's Association, NASCAR, Coaches Inc, and after graduation I worked for the Washington Wizards. I am now currently the Suicide Prevention Program Manager for the U.S Army. Being that I've had a taste of success so young in my career I love speaking with athletes and letting them know that they can be successful After The Ball Deflates because I am a walking testimony.
Key areas that I touch on in my presentations are all areas I struggled with just like many other athletes: identity, mistakes, failure, purpose and faith.
