Bridget earned her Master's Degree with Distinction in Communication Studies, with a focus on Organizational Communication and Intercultural Communication. Her areas of expertise include advanced presentation skills, leadership, influence, team-building, diversity and equity, LGBTQ inclusion, managing change, conflict resolution, coaching skills, personal growth, weight loss, and much more. Bridget is certified as a coach with The International Coaching Federation and The Life Coach School. As a result of the events of 2020, Bridget and her SCC consultants pivoted quickly to work with clients on redesigning existing training and coaching programs for the virtual world. They have been developing and producing professionally edited training videos, leading engaging live sessions and keynote addresses via Zoom and Google Meet, and coaching clients to find opportunities for growth and thriving amidst constant change.

In addition to her work with SCC, Bridget is an Emeritus Professor at California State University, Northridge (CSUN). She retired from teaching in 2019 after 28 years of serving as an award-winning adjunct faculty member. Bridget taught Organizational Communication, Advanced Public Speaking, Intercultural Communication, and Advanced Interpersonal Communication at CSUN. She was honored to be a recipient of the Don Dorsey Excellence in Mentoring Award, presented by the Educational Opportunity Program at CSUN, as well as a Polished Apple Outstanding Teaching and Dedication to Students Award. Bridget is also a contributing author to the textbook Communication Training and Development: Exploring the Cutting Edge, which was published by Kendall Hunt.

In 2020, Bridget and her daughter, Jackie Thornhill, founded the educational program Transgender School in order to teach the world the many important, life-saving lessons they learned together in the four years since Jackie came out as transgender an bisexual at 19-years old. Jackie and Bridget host the hugely popular Transgender School podcast and are regularly hosted as speakers for major events and support groups to help people better understand and support LGBTQ+ individuals in the workplace, at home, and beyond.
