Diane McElwain is the CEO and Senior Education Specialist/Consultant with the McElwain Educational Consulting, LLC. Diane’s career in education has included 40 years of classroom experience in curriculum development and instructional design. As a classroom teacher, Diane has taught mathematics, science, and technology in middle school and pre-service teachers at Kent State University (Salem, OH). Dr. McElwain has designed and implemented professional development programs for teachers in all areas of instruction including STEM instruction and leadership training. As an Education Specialist contractor at the NASA Glenn Research Center, Dr. McElwain has traveled the United States implementing professional development programs which enriched classroom instruction, developed problem-based instructional units, and implemented engineering design challenges. Diane’s has completed her Doctor of Philosophy in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in mathematics and science education from Kent State University. Diane McElwain is also a Certified John Maxwell Leadership Speaker, Trainer, and Coach.

Problem Based Instructional Units (PBIU)
An interactive program that will engage teachers in the process of designing a problem based instrucitonal unit designed specifically for their students. With individualized instruction and team building, each educator will have a problem based instructional unit ready for implmentation.
The Engineering Design Process in the Classroom
Bringing the Engineering Design Process to the classroom can provide students an opportunity to explore academic concepts, work as a team, and engage their problem solving skills. The Engineering Design Process in the Classroom will lead classroom educators through the process of designing, developing, and implementing an engineering design challenge. The program includes all the design materials and resources needed to develop an engineering design challenge for students.
