Listen. Learn. Lead. It's that simple. I use this philosophy as an innovator and a motivator, and it's evident when I lead, coach, and mentor thousands of K-12 educators about unlocking genius for students. I have a unique perspective on the need to unify all stakeholders around a vision for education to smash the reading divide for the millions of struggling readers. My daily mission is to add value to educators to help influence transformational change in school districts across the country by addressing the needs of marginalized students. I seek to share my expertise and passion, to encourage, and to illuminate a path towards success and measurable outcomes.
If you looked at my resume, you would be confused. My undergraduate and graduate degree work placed me in the field of criminal justice. However, it was through continuous listening and learning that led me on a journey in education, becoming a Certified Academic Language Practitioner, and receiving a Ph.D. in Literacy and Educational Leadership from St. John's University.
As Vice-President of Educator Initiatives at Learning Ally, I work to ignite enthusiasm and excitement by building champion educators and administrators on creating cultures of literacy and learning.
I am a John Maxwell certified speaker and coach and surround myself with the John Maxwell mentors each week.
Some of my most significant skills and accomplishments were realized because of my 22-year commitment as the proud wife of a soldier- USAF retired. With over 12 years being a married, single mother, because of deployments, my perseverance in adversity has been the thrust behind my confident character.
My mission statement comes from James 3:5 "....see how great a forest a little fire kindles." My daily task is to be the spark of encouragement and excitement that lights a flame of enthusiasm for others.
Specialties: Visionary Leadership * Accomplished Motivational Leader, Facilitator & Coach * Expert in Audience Engagement * Moving audiences from being inspired to taking action * Storyteller

Why Everyone In Your Organization Needs To Be A Literacy Leader
Successful leadership says that you've accomplished something for yourself. Significant leadership says...
How to Unlock Genius & Move From Impossible to I'm Possible
"Our lives should be a landing strip for the emerging future." These are the words of Dr. Paul Scheele and aptly explain the life that we should live. Every move we make should lay the landing strip for others to take off because we should never de-genius another person. However, a problem arises for many individuals; confidence, weak self-efficacy, and lack of belief can leave their dreams and futures grounded. This session will leave you encouraged to:
Adapt how you think about...
The Power of Story
What's even more important about storytelling is the transformation that can take hold when you find that single story in a book.
Why Your Organization Needs to Care About Literacy
This presentation will help you understand the problem, but more importantly how to address the problem.
