Corey Hirsch
As a former National Hockey League goaltender, Corey Hirsch had a professional hockey career which spanned 14 years, playing or dressing in over 300 NHL games, making stops in New York, Vancouver, Washington and Dallas. Hirsch is known for his performance at the 1994 Olympics for Team Canada, earning Canada a silver medal and forcing a shootout in the gold medal game against Sweden.
During his NHL career, Corey would be plagued with debilitating panic attacks and obsessive thoughts, until he finally confided in a team trainer. Due to the stigma surrounding mental health struggles, Corey hid his illness from teammates until he eventually saw a psychiatrist and was diagnosed with OCD. This year Corey published his personal story in the Players Tribune, and continues to be an outspoken advocate by sharing his struggles with mental health while playing in the NHL.
