Be inspired, informed and enlightened by a world class speaker and story teller.
certified virtual presenter

Rob Oliver has been through a lot: a paralyzing spinal cord injury at 21, raising triplets and struggles with employment (including getting laid off in 2017.) He uses the stories of these experiences and what he has learned from them to inspire audiences around the world. Rob explains that "everything we go through is a learning opportunity."

Through his rehabilitation following his injury, Rob came to understand that everyone has limitations and faces adversity. It's part of the "human condition." His inspirational message is that great things are accomplished when we utilize our strengths and abilities and don't focus on our deficits and losses. Furthermore, our value does not come from our physical condition, the color of our skin, the size of our bank account or our title. It comes from who we are on the inside. Rob reminds audiences about the importance of understanding your own value and seeing the value of others. It starts from the fact that we are all humans.

Rob is passionate about working with medical professionals to create high quality medical care and to improve the patient experience. One of the side effects of his injury is spending far too much time in hospitals, dealing with doctors, nurses, occupational therapists and physical therapists. He inspires and challenges medical professionals to deliver compassionate patient and family centered care using real-life stories, statistics, current research and practical examples. From medical students to nurse practitioners to physicians to hospice workers, the message of putting the patient at the center of the treatment plan has to be paramount.

Rob also speaks to HR professionals regarding employment and disability. His message addresses the myths, fears and misconceptions about hiring individuals with disabilities. Additionally, he shares practical guidelines about how to create policies and procedures within the human resources department that address many of the practical and legal concerns associated with this important topic.

In this current environment of uncertainty and turmoil, Rob uses the story of his rehabilitation as a vehicle to explain the recovery process. His paralysis did not change who he was, it just changed how he engaged the world. Similarly, COVID-19 has not change the independent and free spirit of America, it is just changed how we are going to engage with each other and our environment for the foreseeable future. It is a message filled with practical understanding and hope.

With over 30 years experience as a speaker, you can count on Rob to be professional, reliable and memorable. Not only is he informative and entertaining, his presentations have been approved for continuing education credits for medical professionals and human resource professionals. He knows, his job is to make you, the meeting planner, look good!
