Erik led a storytelling workshop for our Iowa PBS American Portrait project, a National storytelling project focused on showcasing the everyday life of Americans. Erik's approach for the virtual workshop was personal, meaningful and knowledgeable; I know our attendees found great value in the information provided!

Erik spoke about Courageous Communication Skills to our organization. He focused on acknowledging the realities of fear, tips for minimizing and controlling fear, being confident, and having courage. The women we serve got technical knowledge, tips that they can carry into their interviews, and confidence to advocate for themselves in their future careers. When I think of Erik the two words that come to mind are knowledgeable and approachable. Public speaking is not something that most people naturally love. Erik is extremely friendly and makes everyone feel very comfortable in an uncomfortable situation. The environment that he facilitates is nonjudgmental where everyone is invited to be the best version of themselves. There is a difference between people who simply teach technical public speaking skills and those who SHOW you how to do it. Erik is a great teacher and people at all levels benefit from his expertise.

I was blown away with the presentation Erik had put together. I felt like the audience had a chance to get to know Erik as a person, share in common struggles and self-doubt that we put on ourselves and set tangible goals to overcome those obstacles. Overall his presentation was well put together, and made a lasting impression on the audience. Erik has an energy that encourages each of us to reflect on our own skills, abilities and individual power. He is motivating, encouraging and truly refreshing to listen to. I believe every leader in our city should participate in his workshop or attend a presentation in order to get comfortable with what they bring to the table and practice leading with vulnerability as a tool to lift up others.

Erik presented on the topic of Storytelling in our association group quarterly meeting.
