Dr. Philip Vincent brings more than 20 successful years of experience in education to his presentations, workshops, and best selling books. With an academic background in philosophy, religion, and psychology, Dr. Vincent received his master's degree in education from Appalachian State University in 1979 and his doctor of education degree in curriculum and instruction from North Carolina State University in 1991. He has taught at the elementary, middle, and high school levels in North Carolina and Alaska, and has taught graduate education courses at North Carolina State University. He has been director of middle-grades education in a large and diverse school system, and now serves as Director of Character Development Group in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. In school systems and communicates across the nation, Dr. Vincent has become "the voice of character." His principles and leadership have provided the direction for numerous community initiatives and state mandates for character education. Dr. Vincent has presented more than 500 workshops for schools involved in formulating and implementing their character education programs as well as consulting with educators in 26 states. Among his many awards are a Teaching Merit Award, a grant from the Council for Basic Education, and Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Delta Kappa induction. He has written numerous journal articles about developing character, gifted education, computer ethics, and working with at-risk students in an alternative classroom setting.
