Lorna Luft is a vibrant and charismatic woman who traverses a number of careers, including singer, actress and author, with intense depth and emotion. Born into one of the most famous showbiz families of all time, Luft takes her inherited talents to a new level. Currently, she is touring the country and dazzling audiences with her critically acclaimed multimedia music revue "Songs My Mother Taught Me", a heartfelt tribute to her mother Judy Garland and a journey through the showbiz legend's life as a singer, actress and mother. Luft began her career at the side of her mother on CBS's "The Judy Garland Show" and later on Broadway in "Judy at the Palace." These performances were a springboard for her career as she returned to Broadway some time later with roles in "Extremities," "Snoopy" and "Promises, Promises;" as well as the national tours of "They're Playing Our Song" and Jerry Herman's "Broadway Years." She starred as Miss Adelaide in Jerry Zak's production of the national tour of "Guys and Dolls" and has appeared regionally in numerous productions including "Girl Crazy," "Little Shop of Horrors," "Mame" and "Grease." Luft is an accomplished vocalist and has staged numerous concert appearances in some of the world's most prestigious venues. In addition to appearing in sold-out tours of Great Britain, she starred in a tribute to Sammy Davis, Jr., and Ira Gershwin, both at London's Royal Albert Hall in the presence of the Princess of Wales. Luft had the honor of performing for the President and Mrs. Bush at the Kennedy Center Inaugural Anniversary Gala. She hosted a star-studded evening dedicated to the legacy of Judy Garland, first at the London Palladium in 1998 and then at New York's famed Carnegie Hall in 1999. Luft received critical acclaim for the Electra Records recording of George and Ira Gershwin's "Girl Crazy" and was instrumental in the production of "Judy," a 4-CD Judy Garland commemorative box-set, released by 32 Records in October 1998. Most recently, Luft took on the role of author with "Me and My Shadows: A Family Memoir," detailing her story of life growing up in Hollywood. The ABC mini-series, "Life With Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows," based on the book, aired in February 2001, garnering 13 Emmy nominations and the highest ratings for a mini-series in the 2000-2001 season.
