William "T" Thompson is a former decorated Air Force pilot, international airline captain, lawyer, author, and award-winning businessman. An association president and CEO representing 50,000 colleagues, "T" has also worked for four governors on both sides of the aisle, overseeing state aviation agencies.
An award-winning entrepreneur, he founded the Summit Group Companies, which owned a financial planning firm, fast-food franchises, including Subway Sandwiches, Dunkin Donuts, and TCBY yogurt shops, an engineering services firm, a systems integration company, and a real estate development firm. He was a finalist for Inc. Magazine's Entrepreneur of the Year award.
An Air Force Academy graduate, "T" returned to the Academy to become president and CEO of the Association of Graduates (AOG) after selling his company and retiring early from Delta to heal a split in the graduate community. He then took the AOG to lofty heights with chapter growth from 31 to 86 and asset growth from $35 million to almost $60 million over a 5-year period. He was selected as one of 2015's Most Innovative Business Leaders.
He has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Black Enterprise Magazine, the Boston Globe, and the Atlanta Business Journal. He has appeared on NBC, CBS, PBS, and Sirius XM, among many other media outlets. "T"'s first book was released in 2021 and is titled "The Flight To Excellence; Soaring to New Heights In Business and Life." He lives in the Atlanta area, and his proudest accomplishment is raising two wonderful daughters who are focused on living lives of Excellence.
