Dennis Potvin is a retired defenseman and team captain who played for the New York Islanders from 1973 - 88. While playing for the Islanders he won four Stanley Cups and was a three-time recipient of the James Norris Memorial Trophy. Potvin and Bryan Trottier are the only two players to have played 1,000 games in an Islanders uniform. In 1998, Hockey News ranked Potvin #19 on the list of the 100 greatest hockey players.
