MARTIN SHORT
Martin Short's host of hilarious impressions and his proven ability as a comedic chameleon first came to attention during his time on Second City Television (SCTV) and then on Saturday Night Live.
His characters soon became favorites on SNL, including oddball man-child Ed Grimley, albino entertainer Jackie Rogers, Jr. defense attorney Nathan Thurm, and aged songwriter Irving Cohen. He also was recognized for his impersonations of celebrities, notably Jerry Lewis and Katharine Hepburn.
SNL proved to be the springboard to a long career in film and TV. Short has landed plum comedic roles in theatrical releases such as Inner Space, Three Fugitives, Tim Burton's Mars Attacks, Jungle 2 Jungle, and The Big Picture.
Perhaps his most memorable role was that of the scene-stealing Franck, the wedding planner in Father of the Bride which he later reprised in Father of the Bride II.
Not limiting himself to acting, Short has also written, produced and starred in three Emmy and Cable Ace Award-winning comedy specials for television: Martin Short's Concert for the North Americas for Showtime, I Martin Short, Goes Hollywood and The Show Formerly Known as the Martin Short Show for NBC.
