Velvet Negroni

Velvet Negroni

CA, US
Minneapolis-based experimental R&B artist who explores the psychedelic side of R&B.

Minneapolis-based experimental R&B artist Jeremy Nutzman (aka Velvet Negroni) explores the psychedelic side of R&B, producing either kaleidoscopic jams or stark minimalist pieces.

At a young age Nutzman was adopted into a white evangelical family, who encouraged him to learn classical piano. Wanting to embrace all sides of the musical spectrum, he would also sneak out at night to practice with a band, giving him an interesting duality in his musical taste. He first appeared on Tickle Torture's 2016 single "Full Court Press" but it wasn't long before he had released his own mixtape, 2017's T.C.O.D. This caught the attention of Bon Iver, who invited him on tour as a support throughout 2018. He followed up on the newfound exposure by releasing his debut album proper, 2019's Neon Brown, which he produced alongside Psymun and Tickle Torture.
