
Marc Raibert
Executive Director, RAI Institute, Founder Boston Dynamics
Marc Raibert is a life-long roboticist and lover of robotics technology. He is executive director of the RAI Institute (Robotics and AI Institute), a research lab devoted to advancing the intelligence as well as the physical skills of robots. He is also founder of Boston Dynamics where he spent 30 years leading development of robots you may know, such as BigDog, Spot and Atlas. Prior to that Raibert spent 16 years as an academic researcher and tenured faculty at MIT and Carnegie Mellon University, where he created the Leg Laboratory, a lab that helped establish the scientific basis for highly dynamic robots. Raibert is a Founding Fellow of AAAI, a member of the US National Academy of Engineering, was named Pioneer in Robotics in by IEEE and received the Engelberger Award in 2022, was named Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in AI in 2023, and received the IEEE Robotics and Automation Field Award in 2025.
