Preventing teacher burn out is the focus of Susan’s work. By addressing student behavior and aggravations from outside the classroom, she provides teachers with more time to do their best job in the classroom.

Susan Carter finds humour in everyday situations and offers creative solutions to cope with the stresses of teaching.

Teachers can be overwhelmed by marking, phone calls, prep, emails and student behavior. Susan shares timesaving solutions to give teachers breathing room and lighten their workload.

A speaker, teacher, author and comic, Susan holds a B.Ed. from the University of Regina and has taught in four provinces. She has spent thirty years full time teaching – music in elementary and art in junior high. Additional years were spent substitute teaching - a learning curve every day!

In 1993 she decided to act her dream of doing stand-up comedy. When she started speaking to teachers, speeches were a comedic look at her teaching journey. Gradually the speeches evolved into successful programmes to help teachers connect with their students while having fun in the classroom.

Susan tells the story of spending years struggling with her junior high art students to TRY to get them to clean up at the end of class. The epiphany came when she realized that there was no need to clean up at the end of the class when cleaning at the beginning of the class worked with less struggle and aggravation for students as well as teachers.
