Heather Ryan
For 14 years, Heather Ryan was a Special Agent with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). During that time she served in five different duty stations and traveled the world investigating felonies ranging from sexual assault and narcotics to homicide and espionage. As an interrogator and hostage negotiator, Heather learned first hand how the criminal mind operates, how the bad guys choose their victims, and how to communicate effectively to inspire action.
After years as a field agent, Heather became a Supervisory Special Agent managing a team of agents covering a ten state area of responsibility. Her unique, yet easy to implement, leadership style was recognized throughout the Department of the Navy.
After turning in her badge & gun, Heather founded Safe in the City. Now, through engaging storytelling, Heather empowers your audience to believe they too can communicate like a hostage negotiator, lead like a special agent, and understand they are braver than they believe & stronger than they seem. They will walk away feeling entertained, educated, and fired up to take action.
Before Heather's crazy adventure began, she received her Bachelor of Science from Ball State University in criminal justice & psychology and a Master of Science in criminology from Indiana State University.
When Heather's not wearing her Wonder Woman cape, she's mom to a son & daughter. She's not scared of much, but the thought of packing lunches makes her blood pressure skyrocket. Heather carried a .40cal for years, but the thought of using a glue gun intimidates her.
You won't want to ask her to scrapbook or whip up a five-course meal but a hungry audience of thousands? Heather can handle 'em with her engaging style, her powerful leadership strategies, and her no-nonsense negotiating secrets.
