In 2016–2017, Jon was the vice president of member services of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), an organization of 11,000+ student professionals in 300+ qualified universities throughout the U.S., Columbia, Argentina, and Peru. Jon graduated cum laude in communication and public relations with a minor in business management at Utah Valley University (UVU) in Orem, Utah. Before transferring to UVU, Jon obtained his associate degree in business with an associate certificate in accounting at the LDS Business College in Salt Lake City.

Jon shattered UVU PRSSA event attendance records as a vice president of special events. In this role. As the vice president of member services, Jon enhanced the high school and community college outreach programs by speaking to hundreds of high school students across the country. 

Jon has taken top honors representing UVU in national competitions, conferences, and assemblies. Jon received the award for UVU PRSSA's PR All-Star in 2017, UVU PRSSA's Outstanding Public Relations Student of the Year in 2016 and Inspiring Newcomer in 2015. He was recognized as UVU's Student of the Year runner-up in 2017.
