Playing alongside NBA Legends Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan and Larry Bird, Sam Vincent learned how to win. He applied those invaluable teachings to his own successful basketball career and has captured them in his "Championship Principles" talks and workshops. He uses his highly developed coaching skills to train leaders on reaching peak performance with their teams. His incredible experiences from his journey as a star player at Michigan State University to winning a World Championship with the Boston Celtics is rookie season - to going on to be Michael Jordan's first head coach pick and coaching teams from around the world keep his audiences immersed with compelling stories while imparting tangible strategies they can use.
About Sam Vincent:
Sam Vincent is a retired NBA player and has coached professionally for 15 years. Born in Lansing, Michigan, home to basketball great Magic Johnson, Sam was a standout player at Lansing Eastern High School and Michigan State University. He was drafted to the Boston Celtics in 1986 and won an NBA Championship with Larry Bird his rookie season. He played alongside Michael Jordan with the Chicago Bulls and joined the Orlando Magic in the expansion draft.
His coaching career began in Cape Town, South Africa for the Cape Town Kings where he was the owner, coach and also played for the team. He went on to coach in the NBA Development League and won a championship with Mobile Revelers. He was an assistant with the Dallas Mavericks and head coach of the Charlotte Bobcats in 2007. He also coached Nigerian men's and women's national teams reaching the Olympics in 2004 and most recently won the 2017 Women's Afrobasket Championship.
After serving as Vice President of the NBA Retired Player Association, he returned to international coaching in Bahrain with Al Manama Club and a short stint with Al Ahli in the GCC. In addition to winning a championship there, he founded the first Middle East Jr. NBA Program.
His greatest passion is sharing his experiences with youth and is recently launch AAU Global Coach Academy in Orlando, Florida where he currently resides.
