Govindh Jayaraman
In early 2012, entrepreneur, author and speaker Govindh Jayaraman was issued a challenge: "You can't lead others until you first learn to lead yourself. Be intentional in your reading, writing, your thinking and your actions. Become for others what you need for yourself and soon you'll see a difference." His response to this challenge? Paper Napkin Wisdom, a podcast-turnedcoaching business that unites practical nuggets from the brightest minds in the world with business owners, leaders and difference-makers.
Since that time Govindh has spoken with thousands of brilliant thinkers and doers, and those conversations turned out to be transformational, both for his listeners and for him. When he began this quest, he weighed almost 400 pounds and his business was in freefall. Today, he's lost more than 160 pounds, paid off more than US$6 million in debt and rebuilt his company to more than US$100 million in sales. His portfolio of businesses includes SaaS-based healthcare software, renewable fuels, big data, and a growing coaching and mentoring enterprise.
A relentless gene was passed down to Govindh and is present in everything he does. While attending the University of Ottawa in late 1989, he formed The Entrepreneurs Club, an organization that he envisioned would be helpful to aspiring business minds at the University who, up until that time, only played the part of presidents and CEOs without knowing what was truly involved in those roles. The Entrepreneur's Club is still one of the most influential student entrepreneur organizations in all of Canada.
That never-say-die attitude has continued to help Govindh be a thriving entrepreneur and lead a successful life. His work with Paper Napkin Wisdom has allowed him to discover patterns of success that he shares in his international bestselling book, Paper Napkin Wisdom: Take Action on Your Five Step Plan to Entrepreneurial Success. Paper Napkin Wisdom, the enterprise, has inspired some to refer to him as "a modern-day Napoleon Hill." Govindh's second book is expected to be available in early 2019.
Not surprisingly, Govindh's goals are lofty: help entrepreneurs, leaders, and difference-makers pinpoint and execute the small changes that will ultimately change their world.
Govindh lives in Ottawa with his wife Stacey, and children Janesh, Shreya, and Ajay.
