Alec Drew, KBE shares his passion, experience and knowledge with business leaders across many sectors. A major part of his 40 years in business was spent as Managing Partner of a highly successful branding agency where he worked with a wide range of CEO's across all sectors. His insightful questioning and straight talking opened up new conversations, giving them fresh insights into their own organisations and uncovering valuable revenue streams that were previously overlooked. One strategy helped his clients achieve €3.23 billion in additional sales over a 5 year period.

He demonstrates the positive effect on shareholder value when all levels of an organisation speak the same language.

As an international speaker he shows very quickly how a simple shift in mindset can have such a positive impact on the bottom line. He hates waffle, verbose explanations and jargon and his talks get straight to the point in a no nonsense but entertaining way. His keynote talk 'Hiding in Plain Sight - The Unintended Consequences of Technology on Profitability' is a fresh and honest look at the combined impact of technology, science and communications on resilience, wellbeing and productivity as we engage with the 4th Industrial Revolution.

He hosts a weekly radio show where business leaders from all sectors share seminal moments in their lives. Asking insightful questions he encourages guests to retrace their steps from the start of their career to where they are now and talk about key influencers that shaped their success. It gives listeners their weekly fix of encouragement to believe in themselves and demonstrates the abundance of resources that are available to help you complete your journey to destination SUCCESS.

He is Past President of the Professional Speaking Association, Ireland, a member of the PSA, the Global Speaking Federation and is a Certified Virtual Presenter.

'The concept of business is simple until you let a human being near it' - Alec Drew

I recently heard Alec speak in Glasgow and was impressed by his calm, knowledgable and reassuring style of speaking. He was very easy to listen to and has lovely energy on stage.

Madeline Black - The Courage Cultivator

I recently saw and heard Alec speak at an event in London. He impressed with the clarity of his message and the information in his talk was well prepared and easy to put into action.

Wouldn't it be refreshing to hear sensible business strategies relevant to your business using real life stories and without the verbose explanations.

Alec shares his own unique insight into the sometimes forgotten world of basic business principles where the obvious is often smoothered by the clutter of noise coming at us in this era of information overload. He calls it 'A Keen Eye for Detail' and delivers keynotes and masterclasses called Curiosity Kills Profits and Discover Your Hidden Assets.

Alec is an international Keynote Speaker, Emcee, Radio Show Host, Business Coach and Author. He has the ability to make the complex simple and identify quick wins that are often overlooked by those too close to the coalface.
He is Past President of the Professional Speaking Association, Ireland and a member of the Global Speaking Federation.
He has been a member of the following business groups and associations;
Vistage - a peer to peer international membership group for CEO's and Senior Managers (5 years)
Plato - a business support and development network for owner managers. (2 year programme + 11 years on the Steering Committee)
Institute of Directors (3 years)
Small Firms Association (8 years)
Dublin Chamber of Commerce (28 years) where he served on Council, served on the Executive Council, chaired numerous committees and set up a number of initiatives including Women in Business and the Business Owners Network, now in its 9th successful year.

As Chair of a number of Vistage groups I invited Alec Drew, The Business Expert to speak to our K237 group. He shared his knowledge in a way that gave our members a new way of addressing their most urgent challenges. His simple but intuitive insights provided a thought provoking 3 hour session that not only engaged everyone but gave them valuable tools to take back to their organisations.

His questioning and facilitating was impressive and I have suggested to our HO that he should be considered as a speaker for other groups.

Adam Harris

Vistage Chair, Speaker, Coach, Non-Exec Director and Co-Author of the Check-In Strategy Journal

"Alec is just one of those people who understands people and business. When it comes to strategic thinking and creating and executing ideas Alec is one of the best. He thinks very creatively yet very much has his mind on the outcome and more importantly how to get there. This is an incredibly powerful combination of skills... I found Alec to be great at challenging me to think differently and come up with real solutions. I have had the great pleasure of working with him on strategy and also through his radio show. A consumate professional who just gets it and is fun to be around at the same time. I would highly recommend Alec to any business who needs to define and execute real plans for their business and the future"

Stephan Murtagh - The Exhibition Guy

Alec is a special kind of expert. He's the kind that actually knows what he's talking about. I had a coaching conversation with Alec where he encouraged me to think differently about my branding in a subtle but mind-altering way. He really knows his stuff when it comes to business and he helped me think differently about several ideas that I had. He wasn't afraid to fully challenge me on one of them which led to a much better outcome. I can see why they call him the Business Expert as he genuinely knows about business, but more importantly he knows about people, and most importantly he knows how to help people improve their business. Hire him.

Danny Riley - Learning and Development Manager

Alec worked with Management to review how the business could be more efficient and profitable. He promptly identified three areas that, with a few minor changes, could make a significant contribution to profits without having to spend any money.

Being an outsider allowed him to focus on the business in its most simple form and to ask searching questions often overlooked by those at the coalface.

His 'Keen Eye for Detail' sums up his approach and offers business owners a unique insight into their own business.

Higher Fees for the Same Work

How much do you cost your own organisation, how much do your employees cost? This is the starting point.

Too many professional service firms fail to achieve the fees that their work deserves. Even worse they give away valuable services for free without recognising their value and if that wasn't enough they struggle to get paid what they are owed.

How Profits can Drive Complacency

There is no greater pleasure in business than being a CEO, CFO or Director of an organisation that is making a profit. All the more satisfying is the situation where the profits are growing annually and the forecast is for the trend to continue. However, this is where caution needs to be exercised because the corporate graveyard is littered with examples of where complacency set in but wasn't noticed until a major catastrophe presented itself.

I have come across companies who...

The Business of being in Business - Simple but effective strategies for every business

Every business whether they are Facebook, or your local professional services firm can be broken down into two distinct areas. Firstly, the knowledge and experience they sell and secondly, the skills they need to run a business. I call these skills The Business of being in Business. Large organisations have the luxury of employing full time experts to manage this side of the business. Smaller organisations are forced to do some of it themselves but also need to outsource expertise as...
