Jeff Renner
The eruption of the volcano Mount St. Helens was the biggest natural disaster in the history of the Pacific Northwest and one of the biggest in North America. It re-shaped the physical and emotional landscapes of everyone who lived through it. Jeff Renner entered that experience as a young broadcast science journalist. He left with the tough lessons born of near-death encounters and the loss of colleagues but also with the understanding of how such life-altering challenges can lead to personal transformation.
Those experiences, those lessons, led to a storied career as an Emmy-award winning broadcast journalist, explorer, meteorologist and author-into craters of active volcanoes, underwater encounters with Killer Whales and sharks, and developing the skills to translate cutting-edge science into understanding and effective decision making. It would lead to a Presidential invitation to the White House. Jeff's body of work was recognized by his peers with nine Emmys, and by what he considered his biggest honor-a nightly invitation into the homes of his viewers, together with their trust and affection.
Leveraging such experiences into personal transformation demands reaching deep inside, embracing vulnerability, uncertainty and risk but also possibility. Jeff has blended his personal life lessons, conversations with famed explorers such as Jacques Cousteau together with in-depth study guided by neuroscientists, thought leaders and spiritual leaders of diverse faiths. Audiences are entertained by his story-telling, empowered by his guidance to transform risk aversion, decision fatigue, and burnout into confident personal performance, resilient team relationships and the willingness to pursue bigger dreams,
Jeff blends his speaking and consulting with volunteer work, including serving as a diver for the Seattle Aquarium.. He enjoys cooking and gardening with his wife Susan, utilizing skills learned in classes while traveling abroad-including medieval cuisine! Jeff unwinds by crewing on a racing sailboat and exploring the mountains of the Pacific Northwest in all seasons with his Siberian Husky Lucy.
