Robert is also an accomplished author, having written and co-written award-winning business books and numerous articles on Lean, Enterprise Excellence, Supply Chain Management, Leadership, and Meaningful Employment Environments. Robert has written five business books published through his LLC, Karmack Publications and the Lean Enterprise Institute. These include the Shingo Research award-winning books People: A leader's day-to-day guide to building, managing, and sustaining lean organizations and Building a Lean Fulfillment Stream. Additionally, Robert is the author of Discovering Hidden Profit, Everything I Know About Lean I Learned in First Grade and Lean Six Sigma Logistics. His debut novel, Drift and Hum, has won multiple awards including the IBPA Benjamin Franklin Gold Winner Award for Best First Book-Fiction. He has also written two children's books, It's Perfect Being Me and A Day Well Spent.
An active member of the business community and a dedicated volunteer and mentor, Robert is deeply passionate about the people and human side of industry. His academic credentials include a bachelor's degree in mathematics, an MBA in Finance, and a Six Sigma Black Belt.
Originally from Timmins, Ontario, Canada, Robert and his family have resided in the United States for the past three decades, where he continues to inspire and lead with a focus on creating better workplace environments and nurturing talent.
