
Alex Furlong
Alex Furlong is a sales team leader, writer, leadership expert, and former Captain in the United States Army who served over 8 years on active duty from 2005-2013. During his time in the Army, Alex led an Infantry Platoon in combat in Afghanistan and later qualified as a Special Forces officer (Green Beret) where he commanded two Special Forces teams in 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne). His infantry brigade's deployment to Afghanistan in 2007-08 was chronicled in the widely-acclaimed documentary "Restrepo" which won the Best Documentary award at the Sundance Film festival in 2010 and included some of the harshest fighting of the entire war in Afghanistan.
Alex's time as a Special Forces commander included Counter-Narcoterrorism work in Southeast Asia and a 7-month combat deployment to the southern Philippines as part of a join SEAL/Special Forces counterterrorism task force, where he assisted host nation forces with countering the terrorist threat posed by Abu Sayyaf group in the region.
Alex now uses his military experiences as a foundation for motivational speaking and management consulting in order to ensure the lessons and experiences of post-9/11 veterans are shared with Americans in all walks of life.
