As a former trial attorney, Gooding made the risky but necessary choice to transition from the courtroom to the classroom, and has taught at California State University, the University of New Mexico and Georgetown University. In his spare time he is an Assistant Professor of Ethnic Studies at Northern Arizona University.
Gooding stimulates and promotes critical thinking by wearing a lab coat during presentations to convey that difficult discussions about diversity are made easier through the formula of basic scientific principles, common sense and humor.
