As a recent graduate of the University of Notre Dame, I have TONS of experience in the workplace. Ha! I'm kidding of course. Only a few years so far. But, I do have TONS of experience with smart, high-achieving men and women of my generation, the Millennial generation. And I do know what works with us, and what doesn't. I've also learned a lot about how we work well with other generations, and how other generations can connect more effectively in the workplace through extensive research and studies. Where does my experience come from, you might ask?
As of age 15, I am the CEO and founder of a national nonprofit foundation called DreamCatchers Foundation. I started the organization when I was 15 years old, and since then we have grown to over 30 chapters across the US. DreamCatchers' purpose is to fulfill the final Dreams of hospice patients, terminally ill patients with 6 months or less to live. To do this, we have chapters run by youth in high school or college, who partner with their local hospices to fulfill patients' Dreams. So, we are bridging generational gaps at the same time. Through DreamCatchers, I have been able to see firsthand what works with Millennials and what doesn't; and, being a Millennial myself, I have seen the truth in it all. It's also led me to further understand how to bridge generational gaps, as that is a huge factor in how DreamCatchers works and prospers.
Aside from that, I have worked in various larger workplaces including Disney/ABC, alongside many of my generation, managed by older generations. This experience gave me even more firsthand insight into what works and what doesn't when it comes to connecting across generations at work. I've also worked as a film producer at a studio here in Los Angeles, a development intern at a production company, and as a marketing/social media consultant to various small businesses and individuals.
