Her consulting business over 13 years has worked with organisations in the private and public sector, to change their culture and build their leadership capability, one leader, team and organisation at a time.

Avril's career has spanned senior roles in finance, IT, project management, change management and human resources. The companies she has worked for include De Beers, Barclays Bank, Midland Bank, UBS Warburg, Westpac, Merrill Lynch, and DMR Consulting. She has worked in South Africa, Australia, the UK and USA. She is a Fellow of CPA Australia, a Senior Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia, an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and member of the Australian Human Resources Institute.

In September 2015 Avril was named as one of the 100 Women of Influence in Australia, and one of the 10 most influential women in the diversity space. She has been recognised by the Human Rights Commission and has received several business awards in Australia and the USA, for her diversity programs. In 2006 she received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement in HR Award at the Australian Human Resources Awards, and in 2012 was awarded a global award for Excellence in Leadership Coaching.

She is a senior advisor on cultural transformation, gender and diversity to the Chief of Army, Australia, the ACT Commissioner of Emergency Services and is the longest serving member of the Navy People & Capability Committee. Her clients include banks, mining companies, the public health sector, universities, pharmaceutical and biotech's, to name a few.

She is the author and co-author of several books on leadership and the different generations at work, and her previous book, Leadership Revelations II How Australians Lead In Crises, was one of the Australian Financial Review BOSS magazine's top 5 brain food books of 2012. Her latest book, Leadership Revelations III How We Achieve the Gender Tipping Point was launched by the Chief of Army in May 2015.

In her spare time you will find her running adventure runs around the world to raise money for the Australian Cancer Research Foundation and Camp Quality.
