Michael is the "industry's expert" when it comes to sales & leadership. With over 25 years of industry experience and currently the Senior Vice-President and Chief Sales Officer for MGM Resorts International, Michael has a unique perspective to share on the state of the meetings industry today. His expertise particularly in the field of hotel finance and operations makes him a great asset to the meetings industry and has positioned him to assist organizations of all shapes and sizes.
As Senior Vice-President and Chief Sales Officer for MGM Resorts International, Michael is responsible for the global sales of 42,000 hotel rooms, 3 Million square feet of meeting space and all sales efforts in both group sales and leisure sales. MGM Resorts is the largest Casino hotel company in the world, and they have a full convention center at Mandalay Bay in addition to their traditional meeting spaces. Additionally, he offers strategic oversight for vertical sales efforts, manages the strategy for regional sales offices in Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas, New Jersey and Phoenix and oversees the development and execution of a company-wide sales strategy for top destination accounts. Michael is a Certified Hospitality Sales Executive (CHSE) from Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International.
Michael volunteers in the industry and has an active leadership role with Meeting Professionals International (MPI), where he is currently the Immediate-Past Chairman of the International Board of Directors. He has also served on the Executive Committee of the US Travel Association; the Industry Issues and Trends Task Force for the Professional Conference Management Association, the Industry Partner Alliance for the American Society of Association Executives and the Advisory Board for Starcite. He is currently co-chair of the Meetings Mean Business Coalition and was the Past President for MPI – Southern California Chapter.
