Dr. John Dehlin is a globally recognized scholar, podcaster, and activist who focuses on the nexus between religion and mental health, finding joy/meaning/fulfillment after leaving a church/religion, and on the use of social media to instigate positive social change.

After a successful 15 year career in high tech, education, and public activism (including stints at Bain & Company, Microsoft, and MIT), John obtained a Ph.D. in Clincal and Counseling Psychology and founded the Open Stories Foundation - a 501c3 non-profit dedicated to supporting people in religious transition. 

  • John is the founder of Mormon Stories Podcast (http://mormonstories.org), which is consistently rated in the Top 100 most popular religion-themed podcasts on iTunes.
  • John has published over 10 peer-reviewed journal articles in the field of psychology focusing on the nexus between religion and mental health.  His areas of research include the LGBT/religious experience, obsessive-compulsive disorder, scrupulosity, and religious faith crises/disaffection.
  • John is the Chief Executive Officer of the Open Stories Foundation, whose mission is to support people in religious transition, with an emphasis on saving marriages and preventing LGBT suicide.
